Growing Leaves for Lepidoptera: It’s Not Just About the Flowers
Meet fellow native plant gardeners and hear Carolyn Summers speak at our third annual meeting.
Carolyn will talk about the value of leaves to biodiversity and why you should consider leaves when planting for wildlife, especially caterpillars. As gardeners, our focus is often on the flowers to the exclusion of the leaves. We plan according to the bloom cycle but neglect the seasonal beauty of leaves. Carolyn will talk about the ways you can design your landscape with a focus on both leaves and flower blooms.
Carolyn Summers is co-founder of Go Native U and is author of Designing Gardens with Flora of the American East. Carolyn’s 300-acre Flying Trillium Gardens and Preserve in the Catskills is open to the public by appointment.
The annual meeting of Wild Ones Mid-Hudson Valley will follow Carolyn’s talk. You will learn more about our work and opportunities to get involved. Snacks and coffee available.
All are invited. Registration is required.
